Call for Abstracts for a Conference in Albena, Bulgaria, on August 25–30, 2027. Deadline: August 3, 2027

Social Sciences (ISCSS) Scope

Two great revolutions are believed to prompt the rise of the so-called Social Sciences – the French Democratic Revolution and the Industrial Revolution. These events shattered European culture so profoundly that it was impossible for 18th and 19th-century thinkers to ignore them. The first caused the collapse of the feudal system and left concepts such as wealth, authority, status and sovereignty to be redefined. At the same time, the latter changed the means of production to such an extent that suddenly, the whole organization of society was rearranged. It was the time when the main tree of Philosophy was separated into hundreds of scientific branches. There was a great need for specialization and differentiation of knowledge.

Until the end of the 18th century, the main ideas of economics, political science, anthropology, and sociology were formed. By the end of the 19th century, the main body of Social Sciences was already established into distinctive disciplines. Thereby, the 20th century could be seen, along with many other tendencies, as the period of Social Science.

Nowadays, it is impossible not to consider the idea of society as the main factor when dealing with whichever scientific field chooses. But through the separation of the holistic philosophical systems, we have reached dangerous levels of alienation among the different disciplines of knowledge. The human mind cannot grasp the totality of scientific work today. However, we are witnessing a new revolution – the World Wide Web Revolution. Social networks, Search engines, cloud-based data servers, almost immediate transfer of information, super-fast computational methods, and unimaginable statistics all made it possible for us to restore the union of the numerous disciplines. We are already living in unprecedented interconnection. The entire planet is in cultural, informational, and industrial interdependence. There is a need for a scientific reunion once again. These are the ages of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies.

The ISCSS scope includes sociology and anthropology, political science, law, economics, psychology, education, media and communication, human geography, digital transformations and urban studies.

Arts and Humanities (ISCAH) Scope

We could find the origins of the ideas of Humanities & Arts way back there in ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. The first concepts of systematic education (paideia and later on humanitas), the rise of dramaturgy, the great works of Architecture, Sculpture, and Poetry, and the rise of Philosophy. The second big wave of humanitarian studies was during the Renaissance and the following period of Enlightenment. The great discovery of Humanism and inherent human values. This spectrum of our activities is as old as the western civilization and has proved to soothe some of our greatest spiritual needs. We cannot imagine the world without Arts, History, Law, or Psychology. They are irreplaceable parts of our culture.

Nowadays, no one will argue against the importance of the human sciences or the cathartic qualities of artistic expression. We have faced the fact that our inner world is as significant and worthy of inquiring into as the physical phenomena. Humanities and Arts are the sciences of the spirit. As Albert Einstein once said: “All religions, arts, and sciences are branches of the same tree”.

Originally, we are all on a search for a better understanding of the universe in and out of us – two parts indivisibly interconnected. You are welcome to participate in that journey towards the unknown possibilities of human nature.

The co-located ISCAH programme covers philosophy, history, linguistics, literature, arts, architecture and cultural heritage. The events share the period, venue, contact and official registration website.
